Community
Helambu Project is a community of volunteers who are united around serving the people of Helambu. They have all been affected and touched by their personal experiences and interactions with the people from the region, leading them to begin what is now known as Helambu Project.
Helambu Project began with a Scottish Doctor and an American graduate student that visited Helambu and wanted to give back to the communities whose warmth and affection captures their hearts. Over two years have past and now Helambu Project is a registered non-profit organization in the UK and USA: Helambu Project USA and Helambu Project UK. Together they have raised enough money to build the Pasang Memorial Community Boarding School, which provides education to over 130 students from historically marginalized, Tibetan ethnic groups. Helambu Project also coordinates volunteers, who conduct health camps, teach at the school, work on organic farm and much more.
We are now committed to supporting projects in rural communities that create long-term opportunities for education, healthcare, and economic development. As it continues to support education and healthcare initiatives, Helambu Project is also exploring new projects, working with communities in Helambu, to find new avenues and opportunities to develop inter-community economies.
Helambu Project and the projects it supports would fail without our sponsors and contributors. Our contributors come from all around the world and have helped make an enormous impact in the area – something we know they will continue to do! Visit Our Sponsors to learn more about all the amazing people and groups who have contributed.
Helambu Project UK and US are both entirely volunteer run and operated. Board members and contributors are all volunteers who spend their time and money to support the project, its aims, and vision. In the interests of transparent, more information about financial spending is available on request. Yearly budgets and financial plans are available.
